I have tried to install 1.3 version of the Lifecam software and that was worse than the 1.4 - I kept getting an "assertion failed!" even when trying to adjust the resolution. I also read in some problems/resolutions to remove Nero burning software - and I did that too. This does allow for the webcam to start after a reboot - but it does not "stay up" for long.
